What organizations or agencies are involved in the management of marine protected areas?

management, partners, Network

Management of the MPA Network is a coordinated effort between a number of entities. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife is the managing authority, the California Fish and Game Commission is the regulatory authority, and the Ocean Protection Council is the policy lead for the Network. The MPA Statewide Leadership Team brings together a number of agencies with interest in the Network to help guide management and enhance collaboration. CDFW also works with tribes, academic partners, non-governmental organizations, various stakeholder groups, the MPA Collaborative Network, and others to help achieve the objectives of the MPA Management Program, as guided by the 2016 Master Plan for MPAs, the MPA Partnership Plan (PDF), and the MPA Monitoring Action Plan.
