Being a Wildlife Officer

Public Safety Dispatch Team

The California Department of Fish & Wildlife contracts with the California Department of Parks and Recreation (CA State Parks) for public safety dispatch services for our Wildlife Officers. Both departments are situated under the California Natural Resources Agency and employ sworn law enforcement officers (peace officers) with PC 830.2 statewide authority. Dispatchers who serve our Wildlife Officers are POST-certified first responders and work at two emergency communications centers, staffed 24/7. We encourage those who would like to be part of the public safety team supporting the State of California's departments specifically dedicated to natural resource protection and conservation to consider a fast-paced career as a Communications Operator.
