The EFP Program relies on the willingness and desire of fishers, research entities, conservation organizations, fishing industry, and other stakeholders to conduct collaborative research to fill data gaps and generate new scientific information to help inform marine fisheries management. CDFW recommends actively seeking out partners to collaborate on specific topics of interest.
As a start, check out our list (subsection 91(m)(3)(A), Title 14, CCR) of general categories of EFP research that may merit special consideration under a permit fee reduction option. Prospective applicants are encouraged to reach out to the EFP Coordinator with questions or to discuss potential project ideas.
