The OSPR Laboratory Program is comprised of several laboratories each with unique capabilities and expertise. The Organic Laboratory uses a suite of state of the art instrumentation to test for a variety of trace level organic analytes. The Inorganic Laboratory provides analytical support to CDFW hatcheries and routinely analyzes low level nutrients for ambient water quality monitoring. The Petroleum Chemistry Laboratory uses specialized petroleum fingerprinting techniques to identify the source and party responsible for petroleum spills. In addition to these specialty laboratories, the OLP offers technical advice and assistance in field services to aid in pollution enforcement cases and performs rigorous quality assurance measures to ensure technical soundness and integrity of results. Due to these expansive capabilities, the OLP has been involved with several special projects, a subset of which can be accessed via the last link below.
