Eagle Lake Rainbow Trout are a subspecies of rainbow trout known for their unique ability to live in high alkaline waters. Residing only in Eagle Lake and its tributary Pine Creek, it is a fish of special concern, due to both its rarity and survivability. The Pine Creek Fish Trap is located a mile upstream from Eagle Lake. Each year, employees of Crystal Lake Hatchery trap Eagle Lake Trout here for spawning purposes. Eggs are raised at the Crystal Lake Hatchery and replanted in Eagle Lake and other waters statewide. Crystal Lake Hatchery main page
