CDFW has detected a bacterial outbreak at its Hot Creek Trout Hatchery in Mono County – the second time in 2021 that Lactococcus garvieae has been confirmed in some trout at the hatchery.

Based upon CDFW projections of the recreational fall-run Chinook salmon catch on the Klamath River, anglers will meet the Upper Klamath River adult fall-run Chinook salmon quota below Iron Gate Dam for the 2021 season as of 11:59 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 11.

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has announced the temporary closure of the Ocean Ranch Unit within the Eel River Wildlife Area as habitat and restoration work intensifies there with the use of heavy equipment. The unit is being closed to all public access for safety.
