Anticipating good conditions for the survival of hatchery-produced Chinook salmon throughout the Sacramento River and tributaries, CDFW will release both spring and fall-run Chinook during the historic rain and snowfall the state is experiencing.

Today, on recommendation from California and Oregon agency representatives and industry advisors, the National Marine Fisheries Service took inseason action to cancel ocean salmon fishery openers that were scheduled between Cape Falcon, Ore., and the U.S./Mexico border through May 15.

Cedar Creek Tributary to SF Eel River

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) today announced the award of $22.5 million to 19 projects to support the restoration of critical habitat for salmon, climate resiliency, wildlife corridors and wetlands restoration.
