Grant Application Opportunities and Notices

CDFW is accepting applications for projects submitted under the Cannabis Restoration Grant Program, 2022-2023 Qualified Cultivator Funding Opportunity and the 2022-2023 Cleanup, Remediation, and Watershed Enhancement Funding Opportunity. Both funding opportunities are open, continuous, and non-competitive. Over 20 million dollars is available statewide to assist qualified cannabis cultivators become fully licensed while implementing conservation measures and to restore watersheds and wildlife habitat impacted by cannabis cultivation. Grants are provided through the Environmental Restoration and Protection Account pursuant to Revenue and Taxation Code section 34019(f)(2).

California Department of Fish and Wildlife’s (CDFW), Cannabis Restoration Grant Program (CRGP) released the Public Land Cleanup and Remediation Solicitation and the Watershed Enhancement Solicitation, and they are both now open for application submissions in WebGrants.

For reference, a Microsoft Word version of the 2022 Public Land Cleanup and Remediation Application Template (Word) and a Microsoft Word version of the 2022 Watershed Enhancement Application Template (Word) are available. Due date for applications is June 3, 2022, at 4:00 PM in WebGrants.

Today CDFW released its Cannabis Restoration Grant Program 2022 Draft Public Land Cleanup and Remediation Solicitation (PDF), as well as the 2022 Draft Watershed Enhancement Solicitation (PDF) for public review and input. Comments may be submitted to canngrantprogram@wildlife.ca.gov. The deadline for public comments is Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. PDT.

CDFW will also host an online public meeting (PDF) on April 22, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. PDT, to review the draft solicitations and gather comments from the public.

All pre-applications (Word) must be submitted to the CRGP email at: canngrantprogram@wildlife.ca.gov and are accepted on a scheduled basis through spring of 2023.

CDFW will also host an online public workshop (PDF) on October 21, 2021, at 9:30 a.m. PDT, to provide an overview of the Solicitation and the multi-phased application process. Details can be found on the CRGP webpage.

CDFW’s Cannabis Restoration Grant Program (CRGP) is now accepting concept proposals in preparation for the Qualified Cultivator Funding Opportunity, Proposal Solicitation Notice (Solicitation). The Solicitation is scheduled for release in fall of 2021 and will be open for applying until spring of 2023. A link to the project consultation request form and more information can be found in the Concept Consultation Request Notification (PDF). CRGP anticipates holding a virtual public workshop in fall of 2021 to go over the concept proposal opportunity and Solicitation. Details to follow and will be posted on the CRGP web page.

CDFW released its Cannabis Restoration Grant Program, 2021 Final Watershed Remediation and Enhancement Solicitation (PDF) and is now open for applications. All applications must be submitted online at: watershedgrants.wildlife.ca.gov. The deadline for applications May 14, 2021, at 4:00 p.m. PDT.

CDFW will also host an online public workshop on April 19, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. PDT, to provide an overview of the WebGrants application process for the current Watershed Remediation and Enhancement Solicitation and to answer any questions. Details to follow and will be posted on the CRGP web page.

CDFW’s Cannabis Restoration Grant Program (CRGP) recently hosted a public workshop focused on the 2021 Draft Watershed Remediation and Enhancement Solicitation. The March 24, 2021 workshop presentation (PDF) is available. A recording of the presentation and a Frequently Asked Questions document will be posted on the CRGP website soon.
