Grant Application Opportunities and Notices

The CDFW Fisheries Restoration Grant Program (FRGP) is pleased to announce the 2026 FRGP Proposal Solicitation Notice (PSN). The 2026 PSN includes an optional concept proposal phase that will be open from January 13, 2026, through March 2, 2026. The full PSN application phase will be open March 3, 2026. The deadline to apply is April 16, 2026, 3:00 p.m.

As of 2026, all proposals requesting $2 million or more are required to submit a concept proposal to be eligible for the full proposal.

Applicants must apply online using WebGrants. For more information, please see the links below.

CDFW will hold an online public workshop on February 4, 2026, 11:00 am to 12:00 pm to provide an overview of the solicitation. Workshop attendance is not a requirement for submitting a proposal.

The 2026 FRGP Draft Proposal Solicitation Notice (PDF) and Guidelines (PDF) are available for public comment. A summary of the PSN updates is available in the 2026 PSN FAQ (PDF). Comments may be submitted to CDFW via email to FRGP@wildlife.ca.gov. The deadline for public comments is December 19, 2025, by 5:00 p.m.

The CDFW Invasive Mussel Response solicitation is open until May 23, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. PDT. Applications must be submitted electronically via CDFW’s WebGrants System. The grant guidelines, application preview, workshop presentation, and a questions and answers document can be found on CDFW’s golden mussel page.

Background:

  • CDFW is offering $1 million in grant funding to boating facility operators to enhance efforts against invasive mussels, particularly the threat of golden mussels.
  • This funding supports projects that help prevent the introduction and spread of invasive mussels in lakes, reservoirs and waterways, ensuring the long-term health of state waters.
  • More information about golden mussels can be found in the CDFW press release issued April 16, 2025.

Open Solicitation: Golden Eagle Conservation Grant 2025-2026

CDFW is now accepting applications for projects under a one-time Golden Eagle Conservation Grant to promote golden eagle conservation primarily in the Altamont Pass Wind Resource Area in Alameda and Contra Costa counties, as well as the Tehachapi Wind Resource Area in Kern County. The Public Solicitation Notice (PDF) outlines the background, eligibility information and grant requirements, schedule and review process, and includes Appendix A: Project Statement and Budget Worksheet (Word)

Applications must be submitted by email with the subject line "Golden Eagle Conservation Grant 2025" to R3CESA@wildlife.ca.gov by June 16, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. PST.
