CDFW and the Delta Science Program (DSP) have released a link opens in new tab or windowDraft Joint Delta Science Proposal Solicitation Notice (PDF) for public review and comment. CDFW and DSP will hold a link opens in new tab or windowPublic Webinar (PDF) August 21, 2018 to discuss the draft solicitation and receive public comments. CDFW will accept comments through 4:00 p.m., August 31, 2018 via email at WatershedGrants@wildlife.ca.gov.

Resilience, Recovery, and Response Proposal Solicitation Notice closed. CDFW received 46 proposals with a total requested funding of about $45 million.

Program Background

Proposition 1 provides funding to meet link opens in new windowCalifornia Water Action Plan (PDF) objectives of more reliable water supplies, restoration of important species and habitat, and more resilient, sustainably managed water resources system that can better withstand inevitable and unforeseen pressures in the coming decades.

CDFW supports two Restoration Grant Programs as outlined in link opens in new windowProposition 1 (PDF):

  1. The Watershed Restoration Grant Program focuses on water quality, river, and watershed protection and restoration projects of statewide importance outside of the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta.
  2. The Delta Water Quality and Ecosystem Restoration Grant Program focuses on water quality, ecosystem restoration, and fish protection facilities that benefit the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta.

Beginning in 2015, these grant programs are investing $285 million in projects of statewide importance outside of the Delta and $87.5 million in projects that benefit the Delta over a 10 year period. To date, the CDFW Proposition 1 Restoration Grant Programs awarded over $114 million to 109 multi-benefit ecosystem restoration and protection projects.
