Hunters can soon participate in waterfowl hunts at Congressman Pete Stark Ecological Reserve at Eden Landing in Alameda County. Eden Landing waterfowl hunt opportunities require no entry fee and are offered on days of the week (Tuesday or Thursday) that other public waterfowl hunting areas are closed.

It’s a four-month drama that plays out across the Pacific Flyway each fall and winter. California’s 2026-27 waterfowl hunting season begins Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026, in most zones. Duck and goose hunters will watch it unfold from their marsh seats, layout blinds, duck boats and other hides among the wetlands, flooded fields, coastal edges and watery habitat frequented by wintering waterfowl.

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife North Central Region, in coordination with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, will hold an online outreach meeting to take comments and recommendations from hunters regarding hunting opportunities in the Northern Sacramento Valley. The meeting will include updates on habitat conditions, availability of water for wetlands and hunting access opportunities.

CDFW will hold an online outreach meeting to hear comments and recommendations from licensed hunters regarding Yolo Bypass and Grizzly Island wildlife area hunting opportunities.
