Several mourning doves perch in bare tree limbs.

With select fields plowed, planted, mowed or otherwise primed, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) is prepared to welcome dove hunters to many of its wildlife areas for the Sept. 1 season opener.

CDFW Central Region, along with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, will hold an online outreach meeting to take comments and recommendations from licensed hunters regarding hunting programs in the northern San Joaquin Valley. The meeting will include updates on habitat conditions and the availability of water for wetlands.
