PFMC Salmon Technical Team Work Session
The Salmon Technical Team (STT) meets to draft the Stock Assessment and Fishery Evaluation(SAFE) document Review of 2020 Ocean Salmon Fisheries. This report summarizes seasons, quotas, harvest, escapement, socioeconomic statistics, achievement of management goals, and impacts on species listed under the Endangered Species Act. This report will be available online in mid-February at:
www.pcouncil.org.

California Fish and Game Commission Meeting

The Commission will receive an update on and discuss the PFMC process and timeline for developing ocean salmon seasons, and automatic conformance of state regulations to federal regulations. The public may address and/or ask questions of the Commission relating to the implementation of its policies or any other matter within the jurisdiction of the Commission. PFMC Salmon Technical Team Work Session
The STT meets to complete Preseason Report I: Stock Abundance Analysis and Environmental Assessment Part 1 for 2021 Ocean Salmon Fishery Regulations. This report provides key salmon stock abundance estimates and harvest and escapement estimates when recent regulatory regimes are projected on 2021 abundances, and other pertinent information to aid development of management options. This report will be available online in early March at:

CDFW Annual Salmon Information Meeting

Annual information meeting covering 2020 ocean and in-river salmon fishing seasons, Central Valley and Klamath Basin river returns, 2021 abundance forecasts, and serves as an opportunity for the public to provide input regarding the upcoming ocean salmon season. This meeting will be hosted as a webinar only and the meeting link, agenda, other materials will be posted as they become available. The Council will determine if any in-season action for fisheries scheduled to open from April 1 to May 15, 2021 is needed. They will also craft three regulatory alternatives for ocean salmon fisheries in effect on or after May 16. Final alternatives for public review will be adopted on March 11.

The Council will tentatively adopt final regulatory measures for analysis by the STT during this meeting. Final adoption of recommendations to the National Marine Fisheries Service will also occur and is tentatively scheduled for April 14.
