CDFW has posted new depredation determination forms dating back to August 2023 to the CDFW Gray Wolf webpage, under "Potential Conflict and Depredation". The depredation reports confirm 16 wolf depredations totaling a loss of 18 livestock.

As of January 12, 2024, CDFW has updated the CDFW Wolf Livestock Compensation Grants webpage with the following information to reflect the current status of the pilot program.

IMPORTANT: To date the Department has received a total of 102 grant applications for the CDFW Wolf-Livestock Compensation Interim and Pilot Programs that are projected to exhaust the current fund. As we work to continue evaluation of the submitted applications and process payments, there may not be sufficient funds available for applications submitted from this point forward. For more information or questions, please contact the CDFW Wolf Program at Wolfprogram@wildlife.ca.gov

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has confirmed a new gray wolf pack in Tulare County. This is California's southernmost pack, and it is at least 200 air miles from the nearest known pack in northern California.
