At its Feb. 25, 2021 quarterly meeting, the Wildlife Conservation Board (WCB) approved approximately $33.97 million in grants to help restore and protect fish and wildlife habitat throughout California.
CDFW conducted its first Veterans and Active Military Personnel Waterfowl Hunting Days recently, providing more than 650 veterans and active duty military the opportunity to hunt on state and federal managed public hunting areas.

CDFW is pleased to announce the re-opening of the Knoxville Wildlife Area and Cedar Roughs Wildlife Area, both in Napa County, after the August 2020 LNU-Lightning Complex Fire.
Since December, CDFW and wildlife rehabilitation centers have been inundated with calls from residents who are finding sick or dead finches at bird feeders.
CDFW invites the public to attend its upcoming annual Salmon Information Meeting. The meeting will feature the outlook for this year’s sport and commercial ocean salmon fisheries, in addition to a review of last year’s salmon fisheries and spawning escapement.
On the night of Jan. 30, 2021, a CDFW law enforcement officer based out of Long Beach partnered with the Long Beach Police Department on a joint agency boat patrol in and around Long Beach Harbor.
CDFW will reopen and staff nearly two dozen of the state’s most popular waterfowl hunting areas to welcome veterans and active military personnel for a special hunt weekend Feb. 13 and 14.
