All Upland Game Bird Grant Projects Categories Habitat Enhancement (12) Hunting Oportunity (8) Research, Survey and Monitoring (10) Upland Game Bird Dove Hunt Habitat Development November 1, 2017 (CDFW Inland Deserts Region 6) Over the years, we have developed important game bird hunting opportunities in the Imperial Valley which have made this area more popular with hunters, many of whom come from coastal metropolitan areas of the state. During opening day of dove season, these acreages accommodate between 2,500 and 4,000 hunters and over the course of the season, between 15,000 and 20,000 hunters take advantage of the hunting opportunity that this project provides.
