Status of Waters

Low-Flow Restrictions effective December 1 through March 7.

In the table below:

  • San Lorenzo River / Santa Cruz Co. Streams includes: San Lorenzo River and all its tributaries; all anadromous reaches of coastal streams normally open for fishing in Santa Cruz Co. from San Lorenzo River on North through Waddell Creek
  • Carmel River / Adjacent Streams includes: Carmel River main stem; adjacent waters of San Jose, Gibson, Malpaso, Soberanes Creeks that are West of Highway 1 (Monterey Co.)
  • Big Sur Coast Streams includes: Big Sur River main stem west of the Highway 1 bridge; all of Limekiln Creek and its tributaries; anadromous portions of all other Big Sur Coast streams west of Highway 1 in Monterey Co., from Granite Creek south to Salmon Creek
  • Pajaro River / Tributaries includes: Pajaro River, Uvas Creek, Llagas Creek, Corralitos Creek
  • Pescadero Creek / San Mateo Co. Streams includes: Pescadero Creek and all anadromous reaches of San Mateo Co. coastal streams normally open for fishing, from Elliot Ck. through Milagro Ck.
  • Aptos / Soquel Creeks includes: Aptos Creek, Soquel Creek (Santa Cruz Co.)
  • Salinas / Arroyo Seco Rivers includes: Salinas River main stem (Monterey Co.) below its confluence with the Arroyo Seco River; Arroyo Seco River (Monterey Co.)

Decisions to open or close waters are made on Tuesday for fishing Wednesday, and Friday for fishing Saturday/Sunday. Since decisions are made 1-3 days before the status is effective, forecasts are used rather than real-time flows. Like any weather forecast, these predictions have a margin of error, so the status of waters may not always align with current flows.
