Fish Planting Schedule (feature)

The Annual Provisional Stocking Document provides public notice of CDFW’s intended plans for fish plants for the current year to assist anglers in planning future fishing and recreational trips. Execution of these plans is not guaranteed due to various unforeseen conditions, such as weather, disease, staffing, and funding.  It includes both:

  • Put and Grow (fingerling and sub-catchable): Fish are planted into productive habitats that provide natural growth to achieve catchable sizes in following years.
  • Put and Take (catchable, super-catchable and trophy): Fish are planted with the intent to provide immediate fishing opportunities.

The Fishing Guide includes an online, interactive map to plan a fishing trip anywhere in California. It includes elements such as Fish Planting spots,  regulations, boat launches, and places to pick up a Fishing License.
