At the intersection of highways 120 and 49, Moccasin Creek Hatchery is a trout hatchery in the Mother Lode foothill region of the western Sierra Nevada range. Don Pedro Reservoir is minutes away, as well as the Red Hills Interpretive Trail. Yosemite National Park is about 1 hour east of this visitor-friendly fish hatchery. The entrance road is on Highway 49, near the junction of Highway 120, 20 miles south of Sonora. (Tuolumne County) MAP(opens in new tab)
Nearby is the Red Hills Interpretative nature trail(opens in new tab) and bald eagle viewing. Half an hour drive puts you at the longest covered bridge west of the Mississippi(opens in new tab). An hour drive east and you will be at the Yosemite National Park.
