Kern River Hatchery

Kern River Hatchery is located along the Kern River just north of Lake Isabella. The future and historic site of rearing and releasing the native Kern River Rainbow Trout, this hatchery is also home to the outstanding Fishing and Natural History Museum. Picnic grounds are available. Fishing, rafting, rock climbing are a few of the many outdoor activities in the area.

From Bakersfield take Hwy 178 east to Lake Isabella, take Kernville exit, continue on to Kernville, turn left at Mtn Hwy 99/Sierra Way, follow one mile to hatchery. MAP(opens in new tab)

Come and check out our onsite museum open during normal business hours. The museum is full of historic fishing gear and localinformation.
