Fishing in the City - South Bay Area

Creating opportunities for fishing, outdoor recreational experiences, and aquatic education for kids and their families.

SBFIC was established in 1995 and provides more than a dozen learn-to-fish programs for schools and families in the Santa Clara Valley. Teaching kids to fish and then giving them the tools they need to return to fish on their own is the foundation of our work. All programs are offered at no cost.

Due to COVID-19, Learn-to-Fish clinics are not being scheduled. Please check back for updates. Many County Park staff have been assigned to assist with contact tracing. We admire and thank them for this important work recognizing it will hamper our ability to host fishing programs in 2021/22.

New online Learn-to-Fish videos are available. These were designed for  adults wishing to try the sport for the first time as well as parents wanting to teach their child to fish. Parents may want to read this guide to help you teach your child to fish.
