Data Collection Sources
CDFW collects demographic data exclusively from the following sources:
- U.S. Census Bureau
- Race/Ethnicity data from the 2022 American Community Survey (ACS) 1-Year Supplemental Estimates, Table K200201.
- Hispanic or Latino Origin data from the 2022 ACS, Table K200301.
- Age Distribution data from the 2022 ACS, Table K200104.
- Sex data from the 2022 ACS, Table K200101.
- Disability data from the 2022 ACS, Table K201803.
These sources provide the foundational demographic characteristics such as race/ethnicity, national origin, age, sex, and disability status.
Usage of Data
The collected demographic data is used to:
- Monitor compliance with federal nondiscrimination laws.
- Identify and address disparities in access and service delivery.
- Assess and ensure the effectiveness and equity of CDFW programs and services.
- Inform and guide organizational decision-making and policy development processes.
Data Review and Maintenance
Storage
Demographic data is securely stored and managed by the CDFW Civil Rights Office (CRO).
Annual Review
CRO will review data annually to ensure it remains current and relevant.
