Chinook Salmon Coastal Releases - Mitigated Negative Declaration

CDFW has completed an Initial Study / Negative Declaration for Chinook Salmon Coastal Releases at Santa Cruz Wharf, Monterey Harbor, and Pillar Point Harbor (PDF) (SCH No. 2025030879). The Monterey Bay Salmon and Trout Project (MBSTP) proposes to release up to 160,000 juvenile hatchery-origin (HO) Central Valley fall-run Chinook Salmon (CV FRCS) into Monterey Bay from the Santa Cruz Wharf and up to 160,000 juvenile HO CV FRCS into Monterey Bay at the Monterey Harbor each spring annually for 5 years (2025-2029).

  • Comments must be received by April 18, 2025, by 5:00 p.m.

SERP Concurrences

Section 21080.56 of the California Public Resources Code(opens in new tab), also known as the Statutory Exemption for Restoration Projects (SERP), provides a California Environmental Quality Act statutory exemption for fish and wildlife restoration projects that meet certain requirements. CDFW’s Cutting the Green Tape Program is responsible for coordinating with lead agencies seeking SERP concurrence. SERP is currently anticipated to sunset on January 1, 2030.

Deer Creek Meadows / North Fork Deer Creek Bridges Restoration Project

The Director of CDFW has concurred with the lead agency determination by the Resource Conservation District of Tehama County that the Deer Creek Meadows / North Fork Deer Creek Bridges Restoration Project (PDF) qualifies as a statutorily exempt restoration project under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). Salmon and Packer Creek Aspen Restoration Project

Skey-wok Kee’ We Mech (It Needs Fire) Phase 1 Project
