Cannabis Regulators to Hold Technical Assistance Workshop and Community Presentation in Humboldt County
Who: The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW), California Department of Cannabis Control (DCC) and State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB).
What: A cannabis technical assistance workshop and community presentation on the Redwood Creek Watershed.
When: Thursday, August 18, 2022. One-on-one appointments for the technical assistance workshop can be scheduled from 11:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. The workshop will be followed by a community presentation from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m.
Where: Beginnings, 5 Cemetery Road in Redway.
Why: The technical assistance workshop will offer cannabis cultivators, consultants, non-profits and local tribes an opportunity to speak to cannabis regulatory agencies about project specific questions, compliance and cannabis grant program opportunities. Following this, CDFW, DCC and SWRCB will be presenting information on a variety of topics, including how cultivators can help protect fish during another year of unprecedented drought. Redwood Creek contains habitat for many endangered species including coho salmon and steelhead. The presence of cool, clear, free flowing water during the months of August and September is critical for juvenile salmonid survival. Scientists are concerned that summer flows are being impacted by multiple small water diversions that, when considered together, can have a cumulative adverse effect during summer low flow periods.
How: Individual meetings for the technical assistance workshop can be scheduled by emailing email@example.com. Scheduled meetings are recommended but walk-ins are welcomed too. Please be sure to include “Redway” in the subject line of the email and include your preferred time and topic in the message. The community presentation is open to all members of the community and reservations are not required.
