For the first time in three years, grouse and mountain quail hunters should find the state’s national forests along with California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) properties mostly open for hunting when seasons begin Saturday, Sept. 10, 2022. That’s the good news.

CDFW's Office of Spill Prevention and Response is seeking grant applications to help fund projects that enhance or restore habitat for wildlife, with available funding totaling $750,000. All eligible agencies and projects are encouraged to apply.

CDFW has opened the annual grant application period for projects that benefit upland game bird populations and the habitats upon which they depend.
