The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) Director has re-opened the recreational razor clam fishery in Del Norte County following a recommendation from state health agencies that the consumption of razor clams in the area no longer poses a significant threat for domoic acid exposure.

Since approximately May 13, 2022, several Central and Southern California wildlife rehabilitation facilities from Monterey County south to San Diego County have admitted hundreds of sick California brown pelicans, a fully protected species in California.

CDFW has completed its 2022 waterfowl breeding population survey. The resulting data indicate the overall number of breeding ducks has decreased by 19 percent, including mallards that are the most abundant duck in the survey.

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has selected 23 ecosystem restoration and protection projects to fund under its Proposition 1 Watershed Restoration Grant and Delta Water Quality and Ecosystem Restoration Grant Program. The awards total $26 million.
