The Wildlife Conservation Board (WCB) has approved $21.7 million in grants to support 16 habitat protection and restoration projects in 11 counties across California. Awarded at WCB’s Aug. 28 meeting, the projects will support biological diversity across 13,940 acres of the state’s most ecologically important landscapes.

The California Fish and Game Commission has revoked the commercial fishing licenses and permits of two fishermen after extensive histories of violations in the lobster and Dungeness crab fisheries.

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife’s (CDFW’s) Cannabis Restoration Grant Program recently awarded more than $3.9 million to the Monterey Bay Salmon and Trout Project (MBSTP), to support the captive broodstock program operations at its Kingfisher Flat Conservation Hatchery in Santa Cruz County and help it continue its education, outreach and monitoring activities.
