Fisheries biologist releases white sturgeon during CDFW sturgeon monitoring study in Suisun Bay

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has initiated a status review for white sturgeon (Acipenser transmontanus) and hereby solicits data and comments on the petitioned action to list this species as threatened under the California Endangered Species Act.

CDFW is initiating annual helicopter surveys to inventory and monitor mule deer, elk, pronghorn antelope and bighorn sheep populations throughout the state. Flights will be conducted in portions of Solano, Mendocino, Siskiyou, Modoc, Lassen, Inyo, Kern, Los Angeles, San Bernardino and Riverside counties during February and March 2024.

CDFW has completed the release of approximately 23 million fall-run Chinook salmon raised at its four Central Valley anadromous fish hatcheries, the Feather River Fish Hatchery, the Nimbus Fish Hatchery, the Mokelumne River Fish Hatchery and the Merced River Hatchery.
