Location: The Section 630(b)63,
Title 14, California Code of Regulations* Ecological Reserve is located on the eastern slope of the Argus Range in southern Inyo County; approximately five miles north of the community of Trona, and 31 miles northeast of the city of Ridgecrest. The area consists of 520 acres.
Purpose of Acquisition: To protect the Mojave desert water sources and associated riparian habitat providing critical habitat for the Inyo California towhee (Melozone crissalis eremophilus).
Description†: Management objectives at this property are to maintain and protect the water supply, quality, and quantity as it is critical in maintaining the necessary riparian habitat for the Inyo California towhee and Willow Flycatcher. Continue to provide public hunting opportunities and expand opportunities for wildlife viewing and environmental education/research.
