Deer Hunts

Notice: In addition to a valid hunting license, hunters must obtain a current year A-zone deer tag prior to attending a special deer hunt. Note that hunters who wish to exchange a previously purchased premium zone deer tag for an A-zone deer tag, may only do so only if all the following conditions are met: the zone for the tag to be exchanged has not yet been filled. Additionally, hunters may only exchange a premium tag for an A-zone tag, provided that the earliest (archery) season for the tag to be exchanged has not yet opened. Deer tag exchanges may be exchanged by mail or in person at CDFW license sales offices only.

Knoxville Wildlife Area - (7 Day) Deer Hunt - August 8 - August 14, 2026

This is a seven-day hunt. There is no check station and check-in is not required; One hunter will be drawn. A successfully-drawn permit holder may bring one (1) additional hunting or nonhunting guest during any of the day(s) of the special 7-day hunt period. The permittee and guest must each keep a copy of the hunt permit in their possession at all times while in the field. Only named permit holders hunters and their guest with permit in possession (limit 1) will be allowed on the Area during this hunt.

Canada de los Osos ER - Jr. Only Deer Hunt - September 12 - September 13, 2026

This is a two-day junior only hunt; mandatory check-in and orientation on first day of hunt; One hunter will be drawn. Winner shall bring 1 non-hunting partner that is at least 18 years old.
