Emergency Closures

CDFW may have cause to close facilities or properties, postpone or cancel events, or adjust operations due to construction, flood, fire, or public health concerns.

public health closure Many of CDFW's high public use areas, including visitor centers and license counters, have reopened, with local health protocols in place, if any exist. Before heading to a CDFW facility, contact the regional CDFW office to determine if that facility is open. Klamath River Dam Removal

Beginning May 2023, recreation sites along Iron Gate Reservoir and Copco Reservoir in Siskiyou County will close to public access to accommodate work related to the removal of dams along the Klamath River. Only the Mallard Cove boat ramp on Copco Reservoir will remain publicly accessible though visitors should expect construction-related traffic along Copco Road and Ager Beswick Road. Recreation sites associated with JC Boyle Reservoir in Oregon and Mallard Cove will remain open through the summer recreation season and will close to public access after the Labor Day holiday weekend in September to accommodate dam removal.
