Canyon Hills Project – Final Supplemental Environmental Impact Report

CDFW has completed a Final Supplemental Environmental Impact Report for the Canyon Hills Project (SCH No. 2002091018). The Project is located at 7000 La Tuna Canyon Road, Los Angeles, California. The Project as originally proposed included 280 single-family homes. The reduced Project approved by the City Council included 221 single-family homes, all located on the Project Site on north side of the I-210, with all development eliminated on the portion of the Original Project Site located south of the I-210. CDFW’s discretionary action includes the proposed issuance of an Incidental Take Permit for Crotch’s Bumble Bee.

Western Joshua Tree Conservation Act (WJTCA) Permitting Program

Availability of a Notice of Preparation (NOP) of a Draft Program Environmental Impact Report and Notice of Public Scoping Meeting for the Western Joshua Tree Conservation Act Permitting Program (PDF) (State Clearinghouse No. 2025110649). This project is intended to provide a streamlined mechanism of CEQA compliance for property owners and land managers engaging in actions with potential to result in limited take of western Joshua tree, as authorized under the WJTCA. The Program EIR will also include actions by CDFW on its own properties. The purpose of the NOP is to provide notice to the public that CDFW is beginning the preparation of the Program EIR and to solicit comments concerning the scope and content of the environmental review.

Pacific Gas and Electric Company Long-Term North Central Region Incidental Take Permit and Master Streambed Alteration Agreement

Availability of a Notice of Preparation (NOP) for the Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) for the Pacific Gas and Electric Company’s (PG&E’s) Long-Term North Central Region Incidental Take Permit and Master Streambed Alteration Agreement Project (State Clearinghouse No. 2025101571). This project involves PG&E’s continued operations and maintenance of its comprehensive network of approximately 10,500 miles of gas transmission and distribution pipelines, 24,800 miles of electric transmission and distribution lines, and 175 substations. The purpose of the NOP is to inform recipients that CDFW is beginning the preparation of the DEIR and to solicit comments concerning the scope and content of the environmental review.

2025 Fisheries Restoration Grant Program - Mitigated Negative Declaration

CDFW has completed a Mitigated Negative Declaration (MND) for the 2025 Fisheries Restoration Grant Program’s Mitigated Negative Declaration Project (PDF) (SCH No. 2025091295), located in Humboldt, Del Norte, Mendocino, Siskiyou, Marin, Monterey, San Luis Obispo, and Sonoma counties. The project uses grant funds approved by the California Legislature to initiate activities that are designed to restore, enhance, and protect salmon and steelhead trout (Oncorhynchus spp.) habitat in coastal and central valley streams and watersheds.

The Project is a land exchange between California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) and the Jamul Indian Village Tribe (Tribe). CDFW will dispose of a 1.1-acre portion of land (Disposal Property), which is within the Rancho Jamul Ecological Reserve, to the Tribe for future cemetery expansion. In exchange, the Tribe will provide a 4.0-acre parcel to CDFW to be added to the Hollenbeck Canyon Wildlife Area for conservation. The Project does not propose any development activities, and future activities associated with the Disposal Property will be subject to applicable Federal, State, and local regulations.

Kern River Hatchery Siphon Replacement Project – Final Initial Study / Mitigated Negative Declaration

CDFW has completed an Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration for the Kern River Hatchery Siphon Replacement Project (PDF) (SCH No. 2024070895). The Kern River Hatchery is in Kernville, northeastern Kern County, California. The Project is to restore functionality of the siphon so that hatchery operations can be resumed; and a water conveyance facility that is resistant to vandalism, as well as trespass and associated environmental damage, and minimizes maintenance needs. The Project would consist of construction and operation of a siphon and inlet structure, pump vault and pipeline assembly, pipeline and anchors, and diversion and outlet structure.

Chinook Salmon Coastal Releases - Mitigated Negative Declaration

CDFW has completed an Initial Study / Negative Declaration for Chinook Salmon Coastal Releases at Santa Cruz Wharf, Monterey Harbor, and Pillar Point Harbor (PDF) (SCH No. 2025030879). The Monterey Bay Salmon and Trout Project (MBSTP) proposes to release up to 160,000 juvenile hatchery-origin (HO) Central Valley fall-run Chinook Salmon (CV FRCS) into Monterey Bay from the Santa Cruz Wharf and up to 160,000 juvenile HO CV FRCS into Monterey Bay at the Monterey Harbor each spring annually for 5 years (2025-2029).

California Commercial Dungeness Crab Fishery Risk Assessment and Mitigation Program Regulatory Amendments - Final Environmental Impact Report

CDFW has completed a Final Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the California Commercial Dungeness Crab Fishery Risk Assessment and Mitigation Program Regulatory Amendments (PDF) (SCH No. 2022090320). CDFW proposes to amend Title 14 Section 132.8 of the California Code of Regulations codifying the Risk Assessment and Mitigation Program (RAMP). The RAMP regulatory amendments are part of CDFW’s comprehensive strategy to avoid, minimize, mitigate, and monitor entanglements of sensitive whales and sea turtles. The proposed amendments would modify existing RAMP components and add new buoy and line marking requirements. The regulatory amendments also provide CDFW regulatory authority to implement Conservation Plan measures to support the National Marine Fisheries Service’s approval and issuance of an Incidental Take Permit for the potential take of specified Actionable Species under Section 10 of the federal Endangered Species Act for the California commercial Dungeness crab fishery.
