&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Various Days — Kokanee Salmon at Stampede Reservoir, &lt;/strong&gt;CA-89, Truckee. In May 2025, 50,000 kokanee fingerlings with clipped adipose fins were released into Stampede Reservoir. Anglers who catch kokanee from now through 2028 are encouraged to report their catch, whether the fish has a clipped fin or not. Your reports help CDFW understand how stocking contributes to the kokanee fishery. Inseason action may be taken to close the fishery or the remaining open days when total harvest is approaching the harvest guideline, with a minimum size limit of 24 inches total length. Gutter trash from as far away as North Hollywood can end up right in the wetlands. The time and effort put into clearing out debris means less trash in the wetlands, on beaches and in the open ocean. Join CDFW for a free, family-friendly guided tour on the second Saturday of each month to explore the Nimbus Fish Hatchery and neighboring American River! Learn about the amazing life cycle of salmon and steelhead, walk along the American River and discuss hatchery operations. Participants may see fish and other wildlife, such as migratory birds, signs of mammal activity and cool insects. Tours are cancelled in heavy rain or extreme heat, and the maximum group size is 25 people (first come, first served). The tour is ADA accessible and suitable for all ages. Report card holders who fail to return their Spiny Lobster Report Card by mail or report their data online by the deadline will be assessed a $21.60 non-return fee when they purchase a spiny lobster report card for the following season. Divers and hoop netters may report online or mail their report card to the address printed on the report card. Max Stevenson, the Putah Creek Streamkeeper, will talk about the fall-run chinook salmon migration through the Yolo Bypass. Thousands of adults come each year to spawn and millions of juvenile salmon can migrate out of Putah Creek, through the Toe Drain (aka Tule Canal) and to the ocean beyond. These first-time special spring hunts are meant to relieve elk depredation on 12 properties in the Del Norte South Side Group in Del Norte County. The hunts will take place between April 1 and June 30. Each hunter will have four consecutive days of access to be determined by the landowner and hunter. Hunters who miss the online reporting window can and should still mail in their tags to the address on the tag. All bear tags postmarked after Feb. 1 will be considered late. Hunters may apply for a four-person blind for waterfowl hunting at Tides End, Harbison Ranch and Kemp Farms. A $13.75 non-refundable application fee (plus handling fees) is charged for each hunt choice. The event is geared toward youth ages 5 to 15 but everyone can learn the specialized techniques to catch California’s only native sunfish when the fish become most active in the spring and summer months. CDFW’s wildly popular swan tours are set for selective Saturdays, November through early January. Held in partnership with Mathews Rice Operation, the free tours transverse privately-owned flooded rice fields north of Marysville. This area boasts one of the largest overwintering populations of tundra swans in the Central Valley, as well as abundant geese, ducks, shorebirds and raptors. The Nimbus Fish Hatchery Visitor Center is happy to announce Sturgeon Sessions—An Educational Presentation on California’s Prehistoric Fish. We’ll cover sturgeon life history, ecology, status, conservation efforts and much more. Sessions start at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. and are approximately 45 minutes long.
