The meeting will include updates on habitat conditions, availability of water for wetlands, avian influenza and hunting access opportunities.</summary><description>&lt;p&gt;The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW), along with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), will hold an online outreach meeting to take comments and recommendations from licensed hunters regarding hunting programs in the northern Sacramento Valley. The meeting will include updates on habitat conditions, availability of water for wetlands, avian influenza and hunting access opportunities.&lt;/p&gt;



&lt;p&gt;The meeting will take place on Monday, Aug. 25 from 4 to 6 p.m. using Microsoft Teams. Please e-mail the Gray Lodge Wildlife Area – &lt;a href="mailto:glwla@wildlife.ca.gov"&gt;glwla@wildlife.ca.gov&lt;/a&gt; – for a link and instructions on how to submit comments and questions.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;State lands to be discussed include the Gray Lodge and Upper Butte Basin wildlife areas, including the Little Dry Creek, Howard Slough, and Llano Seco units. Federal refuge personnel will be available to speak about the Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge Complex, including the Delevan, Sacramento, Colusa and Sutter refuges.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;CDFW annually provides an opportunity for licensed hunters to comment and make recommendations on public hunting programs and hear updates about anticipated habitat conditions on Type A wildlife areas through public meetings and outreach. Type A wildlife areas are those that restrict hunter access during the waterfowl season.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Held in partnership with Mathews Rice farming operation, this area boasts one of the largest populations of overwintering tundra swans in the Central Valley as well as abundant geese, ducks, shorebirds and raptors.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;These popular, naturalist-led tours last approximately two hours. In caravan fashion, the tours traverse flooded rice fields filled with migratory and resident birds, with periodic stops to watch and learn about the wildlife.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The 2023-24 swan tour dates are:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;ul&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;November 4, 18, 25&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;December 2, 9, 16, 30&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;January 6&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Two tours are offered each day at 9:30 a.m. and at 1 p.m.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;CDFW annually hosts a public meeting to give licensed hunters an opportunity to offer comments and make recommendations on the management of public hunting programs at the popular Type A wildlife areas in the Sacramento Valley. The meeting also provides staff the opportunity to inform hunters about the availability of water, habitat work and other improvements completed in the off-season and anticipated conditions in the hunting areas this fall.&lt;/p&gt;
